Redbud Capital of the World

Leslie County is especially lovely in the springtime when the redbuds are in full bloom. They can be seen almost everywhere in the county, from the Daniel Boone Parkway (now Hal Rogers Parkway) to the Daniel Boone Trails. It’s no wonder Leslie County has been named “Redbud Capital of the World”.

The Southeastern Kentucky environment provides excellent benefits to the Redbuds. Redbuds are one of the simplest trees to grow. Like people, they range in height and size. Redbuds only require half a day’s sunlight. They are soil moisture sensitive especially within the first year after transplanting.

Come visit Leslie County in the springtime and enjoy the beauty shared by the Redbuds.
