Elk of Leslie County

After more than 15 years of effort by the Department of Fish and Wildlife, Leslie County has one of Kentucky's most healthy and robust elk populations.

Redbird Wildlife Management Area/Redbird Crest Trail

To learn more about the elk of Leslie County, a good place to visit is the Redbird Wildlife Management Area, including the Redbird Crest Trail:

Directions:Take exit 44 (Hyden Spur) off the Daniel Boone Parkway onto Hwy. 118; turn right at intersection of Hwy. 421/80. Drive West toward Manchester, for 6.1 miles, turn left onto Forestry Road. Camping, picnic, hiking trails, located along route. Follow signs to Redbird Crest Trail.
